EXPERIENCE AN AUTHENTIC FINNISH
SMOKE SAUNA AND A COLD DIP

At the heart of Linnakallio is a traditional Finnish smoke sauna beside a crystal-clear, spring-fed forest pond. The large wood-burning stove provides soft and soothing löyly – the heat and steam created by throwing water onto the sauna stones – for several hours.

Between visits to the sauna, you can cool down on the covered terrace or take a refreshing swim in the pond. In winter, the experience includes avanto – a cold dip through a hole in the ice.

The smoke sauna accommodates approximately 30 people and can be booked privately for groups. There are also weekly Village Sauna sessions available.

Our Village Sauna is a public smoke sauna session where locals and visitors can enjoy the sauna together in a relaxed atmosphere. Public sessions are held every:

• Wednesday from 5:30 pm
• Sunday from 5:30 pm

The Village Sauna is open throughout the year, and no advance registration is required.

The sauna is mixed-gender, and swimwear must be worn. Please bring your own swimsuit and towel. Separate changing rooms are available for women and men.

Price: €10 per adult and €6 per child under 12.

The Village Sauna is best suited to individuals, couples and small parties. For groups of more than 10 people, we always recommend booking a private sauna session.

Would you like to learn more about Finnish sauna culture and feel confident about trying a smoke sauna for the first time?

Groups can request a private experience with a local sauna guide. Your guide will introduce you to Finnish sauna traditions, tell stories about sauna as the heart of Linnakallio, and show you how to enjoy the sauna in the Finnish way.

In winter, the guide will also introduce you safely and gently to the secrets of winter swimming. No previous experience is needed – and taking the cold dip is always optional.

Sauna guide: from €150 per group

Linnakallio also has two smaller traditional wood-heated saunas for private use. The smaller saunas are particularly suitable for morning and daytime sauna visits. They can be booked ready-heated or, if you prefer, you can heat the sauna yourself.

• Mutteri Sauna is available throughout the year and accommodates approximately 8–10 people.

• Pikkusauna is a simple summer sauna on the opposite side of the pond. It is available from May to August and accommodates approximately 8–10 people.

Linnakallio’s peaceful forest surroundings invite you to spend time outdoors before or after the sauna. Forest roads and trails offer easy routes for walking, while the old buildings and two unique churches tell the story of Linnakallio and its local heritage.

The following places can be reserved for an independent outdoor visit:

• Kota, a traditional Finnish fire hut
• the Karhunpesä lean-to shelter
• the atmospheric traditional cabin with an open fireplace

Bring your own food and enjoy an unhurried break around the fire.

Please note, there are some seasonal restriction in the use of trails, lean-to-shelter and open-fire cabin.
